Default Cam install question

I am putting in my detroit rocker cams, working on the drivers side first. I've got the 3 roller followers out. When I was working on cylinder 8 (closest to the firewall) one of the valve keepers came out, the other is still in.

So...does the spring need to be compressed in order to put this back in? Or will it just drop in without compressing the spring?

It would obviously be easier if I could proceed with removing the cam and then install the keeper once the spring is fully exposed but I don't want to move forward until I know. And you need to have the cam still in in order to compress the spring.

Thanks

We knocked em out quite a few times. Springs did have to be compressed to get them back in and you "really" want to make sure they are in there properly.
