I have one and its strictly for the smile factor , I figure I have to start my car somehow and pushing a button just seems funnier to me ( I know it’s lame).

I did hear someone make an argument for it once, something about how by pushing a button your guaranteeing that your car will start
unlike how sometimes you will try to turn the key and the car wont start??

Not sure really if it's a valid argument or not.

In the case of the brand we sold you needed to tap the brake a few times, you would hear relays click and you knew it was armed. It would not arm if the clutch was pressed in, therefor the car MUST be in neutral. If you press the clutch after you arm the system, it would disarm. There was no conceivable way it could be armed AND left in gear at the same time. That being said...if someone installed a system without these safeguards in place (ie using a system meant for autos in a manual) then you better get your fishing pole pal. Hope you had all weather mats in your car!
go find that crazy guy's thread

its something like "ford dealer drove car into lake"

he made the kit and bypassed the safties
and made the panic button into the start button

though I think the dealer should have just pressed the lock button repetedly instead

edit: here I did the searching for you https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...e-updated.html

the person's username makes it funnier

Just ask the guy on the forum who did and bypassed the wire to have it work and took his car to the dealership for an oil change, and returned to find his car in the lake across the road from the dealership.

True story. Not a smart idea on his part.
I also believed he tried to get the dealership to pay for it too lol.

Can't break the law and safety precautions and think it's others fault!
Yes, and no.
He did a REMOTE START, not a START BUTTON...
So its a true story, but does not pertain to this post...

I wired my start position directly together.
When I put the key in the run position and
depress the clutch, Vrooom, she starts.
And because its a REQUEST to START, the
PCM knows the engine is running and ignores
the constant request.
