Took delivery on a new Mustang, is a car w/250 miles on it new?

To the people saying it's no big deal: If this were your car you would probably take issue with it, as would I. The real issue here is the dealer's dishonesty. When I buy a brand new car, I expect a brand new car, not something the dealer used for test drives. 250 miles is a lot when you consider all of the people that likely took it and did burnouts, power-shifted, or whatever they did to 'test' the car's power. Come on, everybody knows what goes on with test drives. The dealer owes you an explanation.

He bought it off the lot, didn't order it. Do you expect dealerships to have one car they use for test drives while others are "off limits?" If i'm car shopping, I see a car I think I may want, I want to drive THAT car. If a dealer tells me that I can't drive that car, but I have to test another that is set aside for test drives, I'm walking. Dealers won't deny someone a test drive of a specific car if there's a possibility of selling it to them. It's common sense.

I would certainly bring it up since they stated, on paper, the mileage is 26!! Doesn't necessarily make the car bad, but definitely question why so many miles on a "brand new" car that you paid for. What was done in those 550 miles? I don't know about others, but that would **** me off!!
I totally agree. Not that it is a bad thing to have that much on it, but you are owed an explanation and a correction. Put it this way, you get 36000 miles warranty from the mileage you bought the car. If you were to go in with 36027 miles, they will deny your claim because as per your selling contract, you are out of warranty. Why should you not benefit from an extra 500 miles of warranty you paid for?

When I bought my 08 it had 500 miles on the ODO. But it had been sitting at the dealership for quite some time so I didn't think anything of it.
But for a 2013 to already have 250 miles? Clearly someone has been driving it as a demo for some time. I still wouldn't worry about it unless you paid significantly over invoice for the vehicle. Regardless, I doubt you could get any sort of compensation at this point.
