GT500 or 5.0 or 4.6??

It's the point of my car is paid off and I have the cash and time to do the swap. Plus I don't like the newer body style. Don't want a loan payment anymore. Don't want higher insurance. The list goes on. Mine is a 4.0 so 4.6 or 5.0 will be sweet. I might just do 4.6 build it then roots it.
4.6L with s/c kit: 400-450 "safe" whp
5.0L with intake/tune only: 400 very safe whp
obviously anytime you slap a blower onto a stock motor there is risk, but on this forum, very few people have blown their motors when staying in that safe range. I'm only pushing around 400whp on my motor so it should last forever.
I'd personally do some shopping, if you can get a low mileage 4.6L (like 30-50k miles) for $2k, then supercharge it for $5k... versus getting a 5.0L for $7k... i'd go with the 5.0L
Or if you found a 4.6L + blower for a couple grand cheaper than 5.0L, you might want the 4.6
apples and oranges.. we arent going to do the shopping for you bro

edit: if you build the motor up, do cams, ported heads, headers, full exhaust, tune, etc.. you can easily push 350+whp which will be plenty until you supercharge it

There have been some F/I'd 4.6 mustangs going for stupid cheap in the S197forum classified. If you want to swap just because you like the challenge, 4.6. From what I have read, the 5.0 swap is not as easy peasy as made out.

A full DOB build will set you back less than $4000 and makes an easy 500rwhp. If you have the bottom end to support it you can make more. For more than 600rwhp you're probably better off with a bigger blower than the M122. Don't even consider the M90 those were design for 3.8l V6 engines.
