Default AIR BOX

I have the air silencer removed but I was thinking about making the front of the air box more open. My idea is to cut the front flush with the opening for the air silencer. I just want to shove as much air down my cars throat as I can with the air box still keeping as much hot air away from the filter as possible. Is this just a waste of time or a good idea?

im not quite sure what you are talking about b/c you should already have a pretty big hole in the side of the plastic part that goes over the filter...

I think the hole could be bigger. I want to expose as much filter as possible while still having a heat shield. Basically i'm trying to make a short ram intake.

here is an idea. Take that air box off, and use that clamp to hold the filter right to the mass air meter box. that's how my car was before I bought it but I had the guy put it all back to stock so i could have every piece of the car. try it, just clamp the filter on w/o the air box.

I just finished removing the air box from my car. You can definately hear more air rushing in w/o the air box but the clamp doesn't hold the filter in tight w/o the box. Any suggestions????
