Default 96 GT Convert. Needs Painted

Well after talking with my paint guy, it seems that a good old buffing job isnt going to be enough for my mustang.. I considered on getting the whole car painted, but the $1700 price tag is not very appealing. The color of my car is very expensive to paint. He told me hed have $700 in materials alone.

Iam at work now and its 2:30 in the morning.. Ive been googling and just looking at Mustang stuff as usual and came along some pictures of cars that were painted flat black.. Yea, the whole car like the old hot rods.. It seems that this is getting pretty popular again. I love it.. My question is, how much would that cost? Would it be cheaper than the high dollar maroon? Im gonna get another estimate from another local guy I know.

I would love to have the whole car done flat.. Then add semi flat stripes and paint the stock 17's semi flat.. What do you guys think? Anyone here know anyone thats had it done?
Heres an example

A couple of my car..

A complete color change will probably cost you more then what it will to get your car painted what it is supposed to be. They will have to paint all the door, trunk, and hood jams for it to look right and be done right. This will cause more labor and prep time and cost a boat load more.
$1700 is pretty cheap to get a car fully painted, alot of places around here will charge $2000-$3000 for a paint job.
Flat black paint FTL BTW, it looks like you couldn't afford to get the car painted fully after you got the base coat painted no matter how well you try to pull it off.

the reason your car is costing so much is because your color is concidered a 3 stage paint. and to be honest, $1700 for an all over paint job with 3 stage paint is one hell of a deal. lynnbob's right though, anytime you change your color, you will be getting into a lot more labor and a lot higher bill

Sounds like ur right.. The guy is a friend of mine, so maybe he was trying to cut me a deal.. I wouldnt know if it were a deal or not.. I dont have any experience in that area...

I actually talked to him today and came to another conclusion.. Hes gonna do this to the hood in flat and also paint the rear wing
