Default Gear Question

Is there anything wrong with using a 3.73 gear that came out of a explorer with 10,000 miles on it? There is no damage to it, no chips scratches or grooves. I assume its the stock gear that came out of the explorer. I have new bearings crush sleeves and shims. Any differences in using this gear instead of a after market gear? I have a 01 gt. thanks

As long as there isnt any damage on the gear set, its fine. Thats what I have rolling in my rear end, 3.73 out of an old explorer and it works great, no noise at all.

They may be a bit noisy if not installed so as to have pretty much the same contact pattern as established on the donor vehicle--however as the donor only had 10k on it this should not be a major issue...

It will work fine, but may be noisey until it wears in.

Honestly if it looks perfectly ok then I guess you can risk it but IMO gears are too cheap to buy/use used....I would just buy it new and be happy.
