Default Looking for modular 4.6L DOHC head

I am looking for a pair of 4.6l heads. Have a 2002 GT Mustang and would like to put a pair of 4V DOHC heads along with several other modifications on, but can't seem to find any information on the heads. I have found thousands of places offering the stock cobra head but none with any after market heads offered. Is that the only head available? Does everyone just polish, port, and cam the Cobra head? Any information that you give me would be greatly appreciated.

are you aware theres alot more you need to do than bolt the heads on? how much do you have to spend on this?

timing chain cover, timing chains, intake manifold, intake, throttle body, new fuel injectors for a 4v motor, new COP's, and theres plenty more you need to do just to swap over to a 4v setup.

Yeah, I am aware of this. All I really plan on using from the GT is the block. I am pretty mechanically inclined, so I plan on doing most of the wrench turning myself. Of course I will have to pay for the machine work and to have the car retuned but already have both of those places planned out from past drag cars I have had. I look to spend tops around 10,000 for all new internals, heads, cams and valves, fuel system, MSD ignition, new timing chain and cover, intake, throttle body, and other small things as I come to them. The problem is that I would like to do this as well as I can but I can’t seem to find any information on the heads for the 4.6. Knowing that a great deal of your power comes from how well your heads flow I would hate not to completely investigate what is available and really don't want to think some after market company never jumped on this already impressive little motor.

You can buy a new 4.6L DOHC long block from Ford for $6700...

Also, for $10k you could but a complete engine from a number of builders--unless you just want to do it by your self (which I understand completelt)...

Yeah I have looked at that option as well. But thinking about it that’s going to be like 7500 8000 for the motors and getting it to me. Plus injectors, intake, and much more I just don’t think it would be wise. I'm thinking its going to be around 10,000 for everything and make a little more HP then just buying a crate motor. Love those valve covers though. BEAUTIFUL BLUE! haha

If you have 10k to spend why not spend a little time cruising ebay for a built 4V motor. I've seen complete terminator set up go for cheaper than 10K. That is Engine ,Trans gas tank even the k-member.

I have looked though ebay several times just never found anything that I am really impressed with. I never heard of the terminator setup though if you could add a link on here would be thrilled to take a look.

+1 would be a much easier and cheaper option.

terminator setup is the motor from an 03-04 cobra. its 4v and is already forged capable of handling 700-800rwhp. They are on ebay for 6k or less all the time with the t56 tranny and sometimes with other things.

Here is a link. These guys seem to think Mustang parts are made of gold but it is a much better option than what you are thinking of doing
