Default Shifting Problems

So this past weekend I was at the track, and I had some problems during most of my runs. When going down the track full throttle, I could not get shifted into 2nd (or even 3rd when I tried). The only way I was able to is either letting off the gas or slightly letting off the clutch pedal, and the shifter would start to wiggle down. And I mean I tried HARD to get it into gear, but wouldn't go. Now after I'm done with the run, or I'm almost across the line, it goes into 2nd or any other gear fine. Also has no problems shifting into gears when normal driving. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Also some background info, I recently installed a new clutch (Centerforce DFX). It has been working fine, and this is the only time I've had that much difficulty shifting into gear during a run. Any insight into this would be great, thanks.

Search around on here. It has been covered plenty of times as to what the problem could be.

possible problems:
need new synchros
refill with proper fluid level
firewall adjuster may be bending since stock one is plastic

I thought of the possibility of synchros, but was wondering if it might be anything else since it only happens during heavy load. Fluid is good since I just drained and filled less than 3 weeks ago. And I don't have stock adjuster and I've checked that multiple times, so not that.

mine does the same thing going into 3rd. What rpm are you shifting at? Try shifting at a lower rpm and see if that does it.

I usually shift around 6200 RPMS when doing an all out run. I've never had a problem shifting at or even above that before. It used to just occur every once in a while, but last time I was at the track, it happened every run.

I think 6200 is a bit high regardless. I think I remember reading 5-5500 is a good spot.

EDIT: If you say you've been able to hit shifts that high of rpm them I would lean toward synchros in the tranny getting worn. You could do it, then it was every so often, not its everytime....I see a pattern.

I have stage 2 cams...my power band doesn't really start until 4500 and ends around 6300.

And no it's not every time. The next day, I zipped down the highway and was able to power shift into 2nd just fine. Only real trend I have found so far was during my runs at track, the shifter felt like it was on fire, compared to a bit cooler when I shifted on the highway.

His car doesn't stop making power until 6200. Shifting at 5-5500rpm for him would be a waste of money.

Aaron, I have my T45 if you wanted to rebuild that one instead of pulling your trans out and having your car down for a while.

That's when the synchronizers are working their hardest, meaning that it is more likely to be a synchro related issue...
