1998 hood release cable routing

Default 1998 hood release cable routing
So I took the old cable out, slapped in the new one but obviously screwed up the routing, the cable keeps wanting to either go on to of the strut tower or sit on top of the power block on the drivers side under the hood, how do I route this dang thing properly?? Pics would be AWESOME!!
