Default SJB\PCM Issue???

So, I just got the car back in good running condition after dealing with some alternator issues and replacing the torque converter. Everything has been fine for about two weeks. I start her up to go to work this morning and WTF???

The gauges are all lit up. The message center keeps cycling through faults, I don't know what the hell is going on. The car is telling me, Low oil pressure, tire monitor fault, low fuel error, parking brake is on (when it's not). The Check enginge light is on, the tire pressure light is on, the park brake light is on, the traction control light is on, also the TCS off button is lit up (the one next to the hazard light). Also, when I turned the lights on, no my color on the guages, they just stayed white, and the turn signals don't work.

The car runs just fine though, other than the turn signals. The TCS engages like it should, oil level is good, etc.

Obviousley there is some kind of electrical fault somewhere. Would this be an indication of the PCM going bad? Battery issue perhaps?

As a side note, the alternator issue I had was related to a bad cable that I've since replaced with a completely new harness, the one that runs from the alternator to the battery. The current alternator is a remanufactured motorcraft unit.

Luckily I had a scan tool in my trunk. Hooked it up and got two codes, P0463 and P2068. Both seem to deal with fuel sensors.

Similar things seem to happen to other makes as well. I came across a Dodge forum where someone was having similar issues. I'm leaning toward a battery issue given the issues I was having before with the alternator. When I had the torque converter diagnosed by a dealer, they recommended replacing the battery after testing the system. Ideas???

I found this thread. https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...s-failure.html

SJB was the ultimate problem for him. Funny thing is my TPMS started acting up a few months ago, and about a week ago, my key fob stopped working, same as the thread above. SJB problem maybe?

Any chance you have the water leak described in on of the TSB's? It eventually corrodes connections on the SJB and all sorts of wierd electrical glitches are the noted symptoms. It was very prevalent on the 05's and '06s and a few later models.

I've been searching the web all day and have come across the TSB's. I think the latest one covers 05-09.

I have not noticed any water inside the car or had any mildew type smell. It has been raining a bit here lately, so when I get home in a few hours, I'll pull the kick panel and start looking at the SJB.

Does anyone have a Ford part number for the SJB? Nothing comes up on fordparts.com for smart junction box. I have no waranty so I'm trying to do as much as possible on my own. I also understand that if it comes to replacing, the SJB needs to be programmed by the dealer, right?

That's what I've heard; SJB requires dealer programming or some such thing. But I have no knowledge about it than what you've probably read.

One other thing you might look into is the battery and alternator condition. Either one can cause issues with low voltage and the charging system on these S197's is iffy at best.

So I got in there last night, didn't really see any signs of moisture. I didn't feel like pulling the SJB out, so I disconnected the battery and left it over night. Hooked it up this morning and its all back to normal, except the keyless entry still won't work.

So what do you think? Battery issue? I assume the SJB is OK since it is functioning now. Weird stuff.

I'd have the battery and alternator load tested as I mentioned previously. A low voltage condition, even momentary, can screw with the electronics.

I had the battery and alternator tested at autozone, both came back good. I took off the kick panel and this is what I found.

That is cheap aftermarket alarm wiring. You think that could be causing some issues?
