Default Timed runs on my 91 2.3/AT Convertible

Timed with aDyno app on a mytouch phone...

1991 Mustang Convertible 2.3/AT, 215/70-14 tires on stock polycast steel wheels
Manually shift at 5k rpm, Computer reset, 87 octane gas, full tank, 80 degrees, 8pm.

All stock except:
1. intake resonator gutted
2. maf screen removed
3. intake hot air tube disabled
4. air box intake tube altered to improve flow
5. a/c belt rerouted to 87-90 style (smaller belt, no longer on crank)
6. trunk gutted (-50 lbs)

0-30 mph: 5.40 sec
0-60 mph: 14.78 sec
0-80 mph: 21.72 sec

60 ft: 3.50 sec
1/8 mi: 13.55 sec @ 56.5 mph
1/4 mi: 20.33 sec @ 76.5 mph

Don't laugh, I know it's slow. Next step is to see if the udp is going to liven it up...

1 tooth is equal to 11* retard/advance cam timing. The turbo cars like 4* retarded but I never heard the N/A's like it... hmmm gunna have to read up on it

38 teeth on the cam gear, right?
360 degrees (full circle) / 38 = 9.47 degrees (Lets round it up to 9 1/2).

OK, adjustable cam gear and new timing belt are installed and just did lots of runs...

Best cam gear setting seems to be -2 degrees. I finally broke into 19's in the 1/4 mile... Woo Hoo ... Haha

All stock except:
1. intake resonator replaced with 2.75" aluminum tube
2. maf screen removed
3. intake hot air tube disabled
4. air box intake tube altered to improve flow
5. w/p-alt-ps belt rerouted to no longer be on crank
6. trunk gutted (-50 lbs)
7. Accel hi flow drop in filter element
8. Esslinger Cam Gear (set at -2 degrees)
9. Ford Ranger Crank Pulley (run on outside pulley only)
10. T-Bird Turbo Cpe W/P Pulley
11. 63mm Alternator Pulley

Best run:
0-10 mph: 1.18 secs
0-20 mph: 2.92 secs
0-30 mph: 4.90 secs
0-40 mph: 7.28 secs
0-50 mph: 10.23 secs
0-60 mph: 13.69 secs
0-70 mph: 17.35 secs
0-80 mph: 20.04 secs

60ft: 3.32 secs
330 ft: 8.64 secs
1/8 mile: 13.00 secs @ 58.3 mph
1000 ft: 16.68 secs

New run with new parts!

My exhaust manifold was cracked and my cats were blown out so I added a Ranger header, 2 1/4" pipe with a Mustang 5.0 cat between it and the flowmaster that was already on the car.

The car got loud... too loud for my tastes so i'm planning on a muffler and tailpipe change.

The exhaust changes seemed to help low rpm torque but made things softer on the top end (hp), notice the slower 1/4 mile trap speed and the slower 0-80 than before the exhaust change... go figure.

New times:

All stock except:
1. intake resonator replaced with 2.75" aluminum tube
2. maf screen removed
3. intake hot air tube disabled
4. air box intake tube altered to improve flow
5. w/p-alt-ps belt rerouted to no longer be on crank
6. trunk gutted (-50 lbs)
7. Accel hi flow drop in filter element
8. Esslinger Cam Gear (set at -2 degrees)
9. 1992 Ford Ranger Crank Pulley (run on outside pulley only)
10. 1988 T-Bird Turbo Cpe W/P Pulley
11. 63mm Alternator Pulley
12. 1993 Ranger tube header w/ egr fittings (another 20 lb weight loss)
13. 2.25" headpipe and CARB approved Mustang 5.0 cat. (one less cat and lighter tubing, -10lbs)

Weight wise, I've shaved 80 lbs from the car since I started.

Latest run:
0-10 mph: 1.14 secs
0-20 mph: 2.83 secs
0-30 mph: 4.72 secs
0-40 mph: 6.97 secs
0-50 mph: 9.81 secs
0-60 mph: 13.26 secs
0-70 mph: 17.01 secs
0-80 mph: 21.41 secs

60ft: 3.28 secs
330 ft: 8.50 secs
1/8 mile: 12.81 secs @ 58.8 mph
1000 ft: 16.45 secs
1/4 mile: 19.49 secs @ 74.9 mph
