Keeping the block in 1 piece is entirely on your shoulders, I know plenty of guys making 450-500 at the crank and they live just fine, as for an engine hoist? My buddy just bought one for 150 from advance auto.
a well built 347 will give you many years of fun if treated right, Im an all motor guy, so I always build for N/A, it would be my choice irregardless of me selling strokers. I built em when there were no kits and we had to use all kinds of crazy junk, chrysler rods, chevy pistons etc.
