I'm not sure if a leaking intake manifold gasket will cause an engine to run like crap, but you definately should fix that. Unforunately, I do not know the torque specs.

take some carb cleaner.. or starting fluid and spray it around on any vacum lines and gasket ares that you can (like spraying were the tb and the spacer meet.. and were the spacer and upper intake meet).
people also use propane to check for vacum leaks too.. but i dont like that idea.i'd wrather have a little bit of a mess to whipe up then to maybe accidently blow myself and my car up.lol
Also, who knows.. you might just need a dyno tune if it runs good at higher rpm.

If its idling up when you spray something ignitable around the intake, it means the vacuum from the engine is sucking in the fumes and burning it....I'm guessing you useds the ****ty gaskets that come for the front and back of the intake, if you did, that sucks, you should have thrown them away... If you want to take the intake back off, re-silicone the intake gaskets because they shouldn't be hurt, and lay down a good bead of silicone along the front and back of the intake... This should take care of the vacuum leak. If you don't want to do that, go to the parts house and pick up RightStuff gaskets sealer, and put it on ur finger and smear it across the back of the intake or where u think its leaking. This will more than likely seal it off...I'd recommend just taking the intake back off and redoing it...But good luck

On my 5.0. I screwed up the rocker arm adjustment the first time because I failed to notice that the order of the valves is different from side to side, starting from the front of the motor, thepassenger side is intake exhaust, intake exhaust, etc, drivers side was exhaust, intake, exhaust, intkae, etc, the exhaust port lines up with the valve on 5.0s unless I'm completely wrong, which is as always, a distinct possibility!
