Default headers.....

Found a set of practically free BBK long tubes for my brother's '89 project car. They are for the 94-95 cars. I'm pretty sure they'll still work on an '89. The guy I am getting them from said they would bolt right up, only difference he says is the EGR system. What do I need to do? Do I need to find a EGR from a 94-5 car?

Default RE: headers.....

Thanks for the great reply...........I am asking for someone who can give me a response, other than 'different'. What is different? I know the ERG system is, but can I use a EGR from a 94-5 on an 89? Can anyone confirm that the headers will fit on an '89?

when i was lookin for headers for my car people said that the ones from a fox would bolt up.
so as far as i know they should work...since nobody has givin you an actual reason why they wont work id wait for someone with a little more knowledge aobut it than me to tell you. but with that egr thing...i think you could just plug it. throw a bolt over it or throw a weld on it to seal it.
like i said tho im not too sure

Thanks ctgreddy for an actual reply. I have been told that headers for a 94-5 GT will work on the'89 GT. I just have to figure out a way to make the EGR work or delete it completely. But without the EGR won't the unspent gas fumes just got through the exhaust, thus eventually ruining the cats. We have emissions every 2 years here to keep tags on the car.

Well, there are ways around the emissions. If the car won't pass, then you can have it signed off my a mechanic as unrepairable, pay a small fine, then you are ok. I would like to keep the EGR on it if possible. The car has to go through a idle and mid-rpm sniffer test. Also have a catted h-pipe for the headers coming. Anyone know if I can modify the EGR on the car now to work with the headers?
