Lift isn't really what gets you in trouble on piston to valve clearance, it's valve timing. The Comp nitrous cam is a very aggresive cam compared to the Comp cam. The Comp is going to have more overlap to help with scavenging (I think I spelled that wrong). The intake valve normally chases the piston but while the exhaust valve is open and the piston is on the way to TDC the intake valve cracks open and the rushing air going out the exhaust valve helps to start pulling the incoming air fuel mixture in. That is where the contact between the piston and valve happens.

I'm a long tube man myself but what you have works good. It all depends on if you want to spend the money.

B-303 overlap events @.050" tappet lift during overlap:
Intake open = 5° BTDC ---- Exhaust Close = 5° BTDC

NX274HR-14 overlap events @.050" tappet lift during overlap:
Intake open = 2° BTDC ---- Exhaust Close = 0° BTDC or TDC

Piston and exhaust valve will be "closer" to each other with the NX cam...... it needs to be clayed as 92GreyGT mentioned..... just to be $afe.

BBKs or Hooker headers, 1 5/8" is plenty big.

Good luck, let us know how that thing sounds with that nitrous cam. They are supposed to sound lumpy as hell compared to a N/A cam close to the same size.
