The end is easy enough to dress up as long as it doesnt go into the threads. I think the picture makes it look worse than it really is.

If every bolt was broke off I could have it ready to to go on in less than 30 minutes.

I think you are sweating for nothing. No big deal there

The bolts hold on the silver plate. In the center around the spindle you can see the seal gaurd. Even if you had to rethread them up to 3/8 bolts it no big deal. They just hold the backing plates on

So what you guys are saying is that if the chip shown in the pic below (in yellow) doesn't go all the way down to where the threads are (in red) then I should be OK?

I don't want to go and purchase spindles for $300. Thanks for your help - I truly appreciate it.

The only concern I would have is how it was chiped. If it took a hard blow it could have bent the spindle. As long as the spindle axle isn't bent and it looks good past where the cotter key goes in the ugly on the end is just cosmetic and won't have any effect. A couple of better shots of the axle part would help determine how bad it is. From what I see you are probably fine. The chip looks like it's at the end of the locking preload washer slot.

Well, the dust shield hole can be drilled and tapped so we're good on that front. Luckily with the other issue...the "chip" is not actually a chip. I looked real close at the spindles when I got home from work and it's actually a little paint over-spray that makes it look like a chip...grrrrr. I almost ordered a WHOLE new set for nothing.

put em on and quit worrying :P the marks are probably from being turned over on the spindle stud jmho and drill and tap the broken stud.
