The 3 wires on the side of the alternator. I've heard there was some kind of recall on the plug, and there's a new one (back then). Where do I get it?

I just put the little sockets on each wire from a basic electrical kit. The bottom two sockets keep breaking off so I need the new fitting.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, but I'm having trouble conveying my thoughts at the moment.

Not a recall, they're just a problem. Any auto parts store will have them, when you buy a ford alternator they always come with a new one. I have about 30 of them at my shop.

Well the alt. I bought didn't come with one. What do I ask for at the parts store?

it was a technical service bulletien that was issued, the last reman alt I bought from autozone back in 2000 came with the updated harness pigtail

Just ask for the pigtail for your alt. If they're a reputable auto parts store, and don't have a 16 year old kid behind the counter, they'll know what you're talking about right away, as they were a problem. Or if you have an alternator/starter rebuilding shop where you live, they'll have them too
