95 3.8 to 5.0 swap starting TODAY! 7-28-05 any advice?
hey
my v6 died well, its not dead per se'..it just has a warped head and blows all the water out of the radiator. not good.)
so, the 5.0 out of my 88 GT will be going in, and it will be a carb swap, not the EFI so it wont be near as detailed.
now, from best I can tell, all thats needed is:
94-95 5.0 motor mounts
5.0 exhaust (94-95)
94-95 exhaust hangars
fan mudulator (to speed up fan)
AC lines from the 5.0
clutch (reccomended but not required)
distributor (2 wire)
new fuel pump.
i know i dont need a k-member because the engine bay is the same. the rear end is the 7.5 and i'll deal w/it. im not planning on ragging the car.
i know the springs need to be upgraded and i also read something about needing new spindels. thus true?
what about the ac and alt. brackets. will they bolt up?do they need to be modified?
will i need an msd?
and this isnt a "hey, i wanna do this" ..or "im thinking about doing this" type of thread. this car has to be running by the 6th (wedding day) and i just want to be clear on what needs to be done so i know what im getting into.
any advice on it would be very much appreciated. even if i dont get any..i'll just have to figure it out as i go. but if i do, thank you so much in advance.

u'll need to upgrade to the 8.8 i am pretty sure the 7.5 won't hold up. ummm.... and u might as well upgrade the clutch while you got it apart cause you know later on down the line you'll end up regretting it. since ur going carbed its going to be a whole lot easier so good luck its going to be a weekend project i just helped a friend do it but it was really hot when we did it goodluck

The 7.5 will last for a while as long as you don't put sticky tires on the car and try to lauch it,But you will have the one wheel peel syndrome so i would look into a junkyard 8.8 as soon as funds allow.

well my friend... i am currently doing the same thing with the same car (95 v6). but im putting in an 82 5.0 that is also carbed. i just dropped the new motor in last night. here is what i have so far. the motor mounts are different (my 82 5.0 mounts bolted right in). which tranny are you using? the t5? or the v6 tranny? i have no choice but to use all the v6 drivetrain until my funds allow me to upgrade. v6 tranny and clutch bolt right on.
