Default Fuel Pump replacement

Alright so a couple weeks ago my fuel pump wasn't priming, so i did the ol rubber mallet to the tank trick and it worked like a charm, today however it was hesitant to start again and the mallet trick failed...seems like i need a new fuel pump, i was looking online and was just curious on whether or not i need just the pump part or the whole assembly? and was wondering whats the difficulty level on replacing it?

just a pump needed, and might as well replace the filter also, drop tank = easy

Hardest part is to disconect lines and conectors. Replace pump is no brain surgery.

Check the fuel pump relay first. It could be that also. Just opinion but if it was mine, I would get the whole assembly from Ford. Also I would get a new rubber grommet for the filler neck and there are some plastic clips for the fuel lines. You can look at one of the advertisers on the forum I bet they sell the whole kit. As far as the install, not too rough of a job, but I would definitely incorporate the help of a friend. Get all the gas you can drain out of it as this will only help you. If you can get it on a rack, you could make it faster, or at least concrete and jack stands. I would not suggest doing it in the back yard on dirt. I saw a post from someone that could give you detail instruction if you need them. You just have to do a little searching around. Hope this helps.

imo the hardest part is the balancing trick while lowering the tank

make sure you have as little fuel as possible
