Default Battery will not charge

Okay I have an 83 with a swapped in carbureted 302. I am not sure what the original motor is. It was done by a different fella. I do not know if that will all make a difference but here is what I need.

A wiring diagram that shows the wiring from the battery, solenoid, alternator and regulator.

The car would not start after a couple days driving. So I had the alternator tested and it passed. I put an ohm meter to the regulator and it seemed to be all good. The battery is brand new. I charged it and started it up when I removed the positive battery cable the car died. I figure this means it is wiring?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like something is slowly drainning the battery like an accessory light left on or something. Could be a wire problem too. Double chek the battery. just because it is new doesn't mean anything. It could have 12 volts but have a bad cell in it that is wreaking havoc. Auto zone will test it for free so there is nothing to loose.

Does it have the old style external regulator still or has it been swapped to the 87+ alt?

Old external style regulator.

I will get the battery tested and see what happens. I will look around for anything getting juice while the car is off.

The battery tested good and I went ahead and replaced the regulator thinking maybe my ohm readings were bad anyways. Still not working right.

No other thoughts?

I took off some electrical take to see what I had going on and found that I had some fusible linkages so I cut them out and sliced the wire together to see if I had a bad connections. No help.

Any suggestions?

Test to see if the light green/red wire going to the regulator has a 12v signal or not.

Check your voltage at battery while running. Future reference take connector off at regulator jump connectors A & F this will full field alternator(Charge wide open). Need to ceck for battery drain with key off.
