Default Fuel pump primes but doesnt hold pressure

Hey i have a big problem on my hands. i spent the better part of my saturday putting subframe connectors on my car. i disconnected the battery but not the ecm. after finishing the work i started the car, and it ran fine. i let it run for about 5 minutes while i cleaned the shop then drove it about halfway home (maybe 10 minutes running time total) before it cut out. did i fry something when i was welding my subframe connectors on or was it copincidental and just bad timing? its definately a fuel issue because when you open the schrader valve on the fuel line it doesnt even push fuel....but you can hear the pump prime when you turn the key.

has anyone else had this problem? if so let me know what you replaced.

this car is my DD so any help or pointers on the issue would be greatly appriciated.

I'd start with disconnecting the filter and then see if you have pressure at that point in the line. If it primes and still nothing comes out, I'd say maybe you're out of gas?

Its got a brand new filter and has gas. Maybe the pressure regulator you think? Like its in full bypass all the time.

Pressure regulator lowers the pressure. Stock fuel pump will put out 70-80 psi. Thats why I said take the filter out and turn the key on. See if gas comes out at that point in the line.

yeah if the regulator was bad it would have 80 pounds of pressure at the valve

The hose between the fuel pump and fuel line inside the tank would be the next look see.

Thanks everyone. bubba was right, the line inside the tank was rotted out and had blown. New hose and hardware and the car is running and driving like a champ.

Thanks again for the help folks!
