Default Oil separator rubber seal question

I was wondering if the rubber seal for the canister is a common O ring that you can get at a home improvement store? The reason I ask is because to check how much oil is in the canister you have to remove the canister. I'm sure in time the rubber o ring seal would eventually need replace from being squeezed each time you put the canister back on. If you pinch it or tear the rubber you can develop a vacuum leak so keeping a good seal would be important and having a replacement on hand would be needed.

Thanks

I want to say it's rubber. I think the AC lines are the only ones that take special o-rings. To avoid tearing them up, you can apply some petrolem jelly (Vaseline) on them to make them slide easier.

Yeah it may be rubber. If that's the case petrolem jelly will do the trick.

Hey Jesse - Just like what's been said here petroleum or any type of generic grease/lubricant that can be picked up at a local parts store should do the trick perfectly.

Has anyone ever had to replace the canister seal and if you did where did you get a replacement? Being made of rubber it's not going to last forever.
