started my stereo
This will be a long-term build that I hope to have completed by summer as it will be an in depth build. After years of looking at magazines of competition grade stereos and spending a good portion of time building other peoples stereos I decided to make mine the best I have done so far. Basic goals of the system is to be a complete phoenix gold system from amps/speakers to cables/connectors, spent 3 yrs collecting all the pieces. I also want to be make it as light as I can using fiberglass as often as possible but to also build it so that it can be pulled out quickly and easily if I want to go to the track. I will be showing the build pics as I work on them but as I complete the individual projects I will move them to a finished/completed page and take down the build pics. Feel free to ask any questions, be happy to answer what I am doing or how I am doing it if you want to know.

I am starting at the front of the car and molding 9" woofers into the doors, the kicks will house a 5.25 and a 1".

hopefully after tomorrow I will have one enclosure almost completed and then can start on the really good part of molding the door panel around the enclosure.... That is when it will get interesting and start to slow down a bit do to the small finishing details always taking so long...
More pics are up showing where I am at so far...

been doing more work but forgot to update it here. The drivers side enclosure is done now with teh T-nuts pressed in to mount the sub. I made the frame that he plexi window will shine through and allow the sub to be seen when I do the next round of resin to form the door panel around the enclosure. Now I just have to do some fitting of the window and the plexi but hopefully I will be able to do the door panel shortly.
I know at this point it looks like I have done little more then F-up my door panel but its gonna work. anytime you do a crazy custom thing like this while one side of your head says it will work there is always a doubt that it might not look the way you plan or just not work out. After finishing the enclosure I realized that this will work and should not look too bad when its done.
If anyone has any questions on what I am planning, what I did or why I did it feel free to ask be happy to explain further.

If your battery is 4 or more years old, you probably need a new one. The battery cables should be removed and the connectors cleaned with the brush type below. Get a jump start and drive to an auto parts store to have the battery and charging system checked and the battery replaced if necessary.

work on the door project got delayed when my battery died and I decided to finally install the dual battery system I had been planning. This will allow me to safely start the car after using the stereo with the motor off. While I had everything out to do that I decided to complete all the sound damping I had not already done. Before that I needed to clean up all the old wiring I was not going to use and run/move all the new wiring where I needed it to be. Now I just need to complete the mounting for the batteries but the hard part is over.

Very cool project and a great read! I always wanted to get into competition stuff and do it on my truck, have a lot done, but just left it as I started to get more cars and felt like they needed a little upgrade as well.
