Default Guages in 65 not reading properly

I read the posting on the constant voltage but was not sure it that is what is going on.. I replaced all the wires in this car with new factory wires inside and out, repleced the constant voltage on the back of the panel and now the Water and Oil are always reading higher than they really are. But not the fuel... when the car is running at 190 it reads at the 7/8ths portion of the guage like it is red hot....

Can someone tell me just how these work... when the sensor unit is hot does it read as a dead ground ?? Is it just possible that during cleaning and re-assembly I left out some type of gaskett so those guages are grounding out to a small degree making the reading off ??

thanks
David

The only thing I can think of is there should be a small ground wire from the intake manifold to the firewall. Is it there and is it connected well?

Thanks for the ground wire idea... It was not connected clean and that did help. I also pulled out the IP and found the constant volt reg was pulsing... It was new but was not holding a constant 6... it would jump from 4 - 12 .. I am thinking the pulsing was causing the high reading.
