gothand, what do you think the true HP was at the flywhel on your 302? Seems like your reading should have been higher even atthe wheel with the 270 cam. I am going with an Air-Gap and a 650 carb with the stock heads, or a 750 if I go with the big valve set.

As an interesting sideline too on my project, the motor was raced at the local strip here. It was pretty much bone stock except for slicks. No suspesion mods, ladders bars or anything. When I tore it down it had a Comp Cams 303 with pretty high domed pistons and stock valve train. Removed the glove box this weekend and found old time slips from the runs this car made in 1984. Best wast 12.25 at 117 MPH but averaged around 12.5 110 mostly.
Slicks or not, those times are pretty tough to imagine with just a different cam and pistons.

As for my old '65 GT, I'd guess that on an engine dyno with no accessories it'd probably been somewhere in the high 200's.
