Default backspace with 18" on 67

Ive read about 1000 diffrent threads on wheels for vintage mustangs. i finnally found the wheels that i like and i would like to run a 18x8.5 front and a 18x9.5 rear- if im not mistaken most 67's with 18's require a 4.75" backspace. Is this correct? is there enugh space for a 9.5 to fin under the rearfender? will 8.5's up fron rubb at lock with correct backspace? tire size recomendations? im just looking for actual experience. I heard and seen everything. Thanks!

Thanks- i have taht article. Ive read it- Thats listing about an 8" rear and im talking abouta 9.5". It dose not list any info in regards to how much space was left over either. that stated 4.5 rear and 4.25 front. That also confilcts with a ton of other websites.

Anthone actually have 18"s on their 67-68 what to chime in please???

I've heard somewhere that on a stock 67, 17's are the biggest you can run without mods to the rear wheel wells or you will rub. I'm not sure about fitting, I think 18's will fit as long as the backspacing is correct. I guess it would also depend on how stiff/good the rear suspension is. I do not have any experience running 18's however, I am going to run 17's on my 67. Nothing like rubbing new tires. Ouch.

18x8.5 front will be a tight fit but 5bs or 4.75bs will be the best chance of a fit with a 245 35 18 (25 inch OD)
18x9.5 rear will need 5.5 bs and should be able to modestly fit a 275 35 18 (25.5 inch OD)

And no I don't have 18s on my 67, I have 14s. But I have 17s on my 65 and I also compiled a chart once that people seem to like so I have a little experience.

Personally though I would not run a 8.5 up front. The tire selection is the same and the 18x8 is a sure fit with 4.75 bs.

67-70 have the same wheel wells so you can look at either 67-68 chart or the 69-70 chart for combinations that will fit. I broke them up into 2 because there are some people who don't believe that because the body styles are different and I didn't have to fight that arguement everyday.

Thanks nick, Appreceate the input- the way i look at it is if you can fit 17"s you can fit 18"s. its just a matter of gettong the correct tire to compensate for the larger rim. saying 18's "wont fit" but 17's will does not make any sense. Ill jsut have to order big spacers and get them milled down if need be- Thanks!

oh the reason for the 8.5 fron. They only make that and the 9.5 for the 18" size. I think ill run a sico stager 17x8 front and a 18 x 9.5 rear- that should give me the look i want-
