Is there some trick to getting the center nut off the steering wheel to take the steering wheel off?

Trying to rewire my column and took the horn piece off but the nut that needs to come off seems really stuck. I hosed it down with WD40 even trying to get it to loosen up.

Is the thing just stuck or is there some trick to this???

mine had the threads stripped and the PO hammered the threads down above the nut so it wouldn't turn.

I finally got it off.

Had hosed it down good with WD40 before I came inside and posted the question and just wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those weird deals where the bolt turned backwards, etc.

I finally got it off by letting the WD40 soak in for a while. The I put a breaker bar on it and that didn't work. So I held the wheel in place with my knees, held the breaker bar / socket with my left hand and gave the end of the breaker bar a bunch of good wacks with a rubber mallet with the right hand.

That finally broke it loose.

I have a wheel puller but it is slow going, has moved it a little but not much. Cheap wheel puller = not a good thing. May need to run over to O'Reilly or Autozone and rent a better wheel puller.
