What color/year is my mustang???
Hey guys,
not mine..yet...haha but my dad has a classic mustang, i apologize now, I love that car but my scene is the 99-04
We are under the impersonation that it is a '65
I just realized the color is actually a '66 color(Im thinking Nightmist Blue Metallic)
Could it still be a '65? How can I tell? vin/other characteristics?
He got the car a long time ago when some shady stuff was going on aka stealing parts from cars etc, so it may not be the stock color.
so help me out guys! what color/year is my car haha
also how do i know if it's the 200 or the 170 engine?
Here is a video and pics to help...

Your car is a 1965. It could be Caspian Blue, which was a standard color for 65, or might have mistakenly been repainted Nightmist- the two are almost identical. There's no way to tell in the photos what engine it has, because there are indications it has been replaced. The later model valve cover, and later model color tell us something fishy is going on. Someone has also torn the snorkle off the air cleaner, and the hole is on the wrong side of the engine. Now you'll have to tell us the casting number on the side of the block.
This is what your engine should look like-
This is Caspian Blue-

Everyone's probably right that it's a 65. The quickest way to determine at a glance is looking to see what the first digit of the VIN is. 5 means it's a 65. Also, the quickest at a glance way to determine whether it's a 170 or a 200 it to check the freeze plugs on the passenger side of the engine block. 3 means 170 and 5 means 200.
Nice Mustang, BTW. Detailing the engine bay and repainting the engine/components would turn it into a real cream puff!

thanks for the quick responses guys!
this car is actually back home about 400+ miles away so I cant check the freeze plugs or vin or anything.
I assume its caspain blue then, and def a '65
I love it, I know someday it'll be mine, and im not sure of any plans for it, weekend cruiser im sure
