There are most definetely side tension cables on the '05 and newer 'Verts.
It's anchored in the front header. You have to disassemble the front of the header to get to it.
The rear goes all the way down to the rear tack bar and has a complex plastic routing plate it threads through.
Does your car need new cables?
How do you know?

Found that out after. convertibletopguys say to replace them if you have put the top up/down a lot. My top is literally stretching and tearing itself now. I plan to replace the cables when I do the top just to be sure.

Side tension cables don't need to be replaced unless they are frayed or are rusting and look like they might break soon. Convertible top suppliers always suggest you replace them. Means an extra $50 or so of a sale to them.
The way they are designed, the real wear happens at the area around the top of the pillar above the 1/4 glass window.
Good luck.

Tension cables
There's a TSB on this and some better instructions in this forum or in allfordmustangs (don't remember which). Do a search and try to find them. The TSB instructions leave out a couple steps. I've done this replacement and it's not terribly difficult. I bought the cables from Ford parts, about $70.

My understanding is that the new cables are encased in a teflon sleeve to stop this noise. This is the only difference from the originals. Is this correct?
