As soon as you start the new oil in your engine, it begins to break down. The whole point in synthetic is that it doesn't degrade like conventional.

id say go synthetic, if your not driving it a whole lot why not spend the extra money especially when your doing less oil changes on it compared to a daily diven car:? we've changed from synthetic to conventional on a supra and it ran fine, and still ran the same times at the track, i dont see any rason you cant switch back, i just wouldn do it every other oil change lol

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't conventional oil breakdown over a period of a few months once it hits the carbon in your engine?

thats what my dad tells me, 3 months, hes a mechanic for about 26 years now, so im going to take his word on it lol, i went from 20w50 conv. to 5w-20 full syn in my 735i and wow what a difference, its so much better, more power, easier starting, and no oil has burned at all the whole month, im never going back to conventional, i used to have to try and start the car 3 times, and give it gas, now it starts right up the first time w/o gas
