96 Mustang GT trouble. alternator? battery?
After about 15 minutes of driving yesterday all of the sudden I have no battery and my car dies. So I think okay my alternator is gone, not toooo big of a deal. But when I got in the car about 5 hours later im expecting it not to start at all but I end up driving it for ten minutes without issue. Then after sitting for another 24 hours I drove it for 45 minutes without issue with the battery guage on the dashpod reading right in the middle where it always has. When I come to a stop though the needle drops from about half way to about 3/8 of the way but then stops. I can't remember how old the battery is and the sticker that shows the date of the battery has come off. I havent stuck a meter on the battery yet but other than doing that I don't know what to do. I feel kind of dumb for not knowing if its by battery, alternator or something else but its just not something I have experience with.

go to autozone and tell them you need to have your alternator/charging system checked. If that checks out disconnect the batt and have it tested....... If neither of those are bad then check/clean all power connections including ground locations.

HI,
I have a 1996 mustang. It was involved in a minor collission. no real damage.
It was towed to a far from reputable junk yard. (radio stolen) I had it towed ASAP back to my house.
It cranked but did not turn over or run.
I found wires cut under the rear bumper by the fuel tank.
I spliced them together. Still nothing new.
I replaced the fuel pump kill switch in the trunk, still nothing new.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
