Default nother mid-pipe question.

I didn't know that my car had freakin 6 cats on the factory H. I've heard clips on mustangexhaust.com for Magnaflow with an X and H pipe and I am now undecided as which way to go. I've decided to cut all the cats off my factory H to hear the O/R H-pipe setup first. If I like it, I will stick with it and buy a 2.5 O/R H-pipe. If I don't, I will get the X-pipe. Question is, will I get any HP/TQ gains from cutting all of my cats off the stock H?

I believe you have 4 cats and you will get some nice gains from losing that restriction and it makes a nice difference in sound as well!

I think that I saw one behind each exhaust manifold and four under the car, if two of them aren't cats, then what could they be? I'm a noob with V8s. It's going to cost me $90 to remove all the cats, I can't wait to be louder. I love the sound of my Magnaflows, but I think that everyone needs to experience my joy.

On your stock H pipe if its just like the 99 and newer you will have 2 cats right after the exhaust manifold, then it bends a little then 2 more, they have heat shields around them, then the pipe goes a few feet to the H then you have 2 mufflers, get the cats off you will love it!

I wasn't counting the mufflers to make 6. I read somewere else on here that 96' GTs have 6 cats. Either way, they're getting replaced with straight pipe really soon. I'll have some video clips up whenever 30mb.com gets its act together.

My 98 had 6 cats so I assume so does his 96. It sucks, but once you get a cat-less h-pipe you will love it.

I'm pretty sure there were 6 cats before the 99+ models.
