Question How many have moved the Shelby Lettering?

So looking through some old GT500 models of 2007. The show car model etc. Including the one from the 5.0 article and it reminded me that the shelby lettering on the trunk lid was more like that of the shelby's of yesteryear...how many here have moved their lettering to emulate that. If so, did you buy new lettering..or carefully remove and place the lettering back on. anyone have pics and how they did it...let me know...just curious..I may do this..I am seriously thinking about it ...as My 05 gt..that i made into the tribute gt350..I placed the letters across the trunk lid as they did back in the day..Would love to hear some opinions and tips...thx..

I have not moved the letters from the stock location, but I agree that to spread them out across the trunk as in the days of old will look so much better. The Shelby GT has the lettering that way and looks awsome.
Simular to the techniques I remember on how to remove badges should work just fine. Using dental floss to run down the back side of the letters next to the trunk will separate the adhesive from the car's surface. Then using a solvent like acetone should clean up any left over glue.
Once everything is cleaned up, layout your measurements (getting them from one of those Shelby GTs or KRs if you can find one) and apply to the new location. One thing I'm not so sure of is for those who have the vinyl stripes is how well will the letters stick.

BTW, nice ride.

thx..this is how I did the lettering on my 05 gt that I made into a tribute..I think it is too close..some of the cars I have seen though with white stripes, the letters get lost ..almost washed out...

A related thought...are there any GT 500 emblems or logos that would look good on the right side of the rear, opposite the SHELBY lettering?

Thanks!

Default Good point

The letters do get washed out in the white stripe somewhat; however, the spacing on the KRs and the Shelby GTs are further apart so fewer letters will end up in the stripe area.

How well did your letters stay on? Were your stripes painted or vinyl?

letters on my 05 gt had absolutely no issues with staying on. there were vinyl stripes silver met...When I did my tribute I was not going for it to look like a shelby gt or KR...so that is why I chose the different spacing. the washing out effect I have seen on a orange with white stripe car...now I know the blue will be fine, but I am still thinking the white stripes will wash out too much..I was hoping to find someone with a Vista blue and white stripe gt500 and see what it looked like to no avail. I will most likely leave it as is...just curious.
