Unhappy Fule gauge malfunction.

I recently replaced the fuel pump in my mustang and there seems to be a problem with the fuel gauge. It seems that when I go below about a half tank the fuel gauge says empty and the low fuel light comes on. I am hesitant to take it to a mechanic and have and easy job done expensive. My car still runs fine when the gauge is on empty so I don't know what's going on, please help.

Thank you.

Most people have issues with aftermarket fuel pump module not showing the correct level. Unfortunately there's no easy way to adjust it without dropping the tank.
When I worked with my taurus before, I just replaced the fuel pump only and re-used the original canister so that the level will be always what it was.
Airtex seems to be a better aftermarket brand if you find Motorcraft very expensive.
