10 Most Iconic Mustang Colors of All Time

Over the course of 60+ years the Ford Mustang has been offered in hundreds of colors, but these ten are the most iconic.

No matter if you are buying a brand-new Mustang, or a classic Mustang, chances are the exterior color will impact your buying decision. As great as the 1967 GT500 is, if you found one for sale that was painted hot pink, you would probably not seriously consider buying it. The car offers the same driving experience, no matter what the color is, but the color means a lot. So, we went ahead, and picked what we feel are the ten most iconic Ford Mustang colors in history.

Whenever we make a list like this, we open ourselves up to criticism. We are limiting the list to just 10, and that means we are leaving some great colors off the list. Maybe you are a huge fan of Antimatter Blue Metallic. So are we, but we don’t think it carries as much mystique as the other colors on our list. If your favorite color got left off, let us know about it. But these are the ten that we think are the most iconic in Mustang history.

1. Mystic / Mystichrome

We could not decide which of these great colors to include, so we added them both. Mystic was an option on the 1996 Cobra and Mystichrome was an option on the 2004 Cobra. The key aspect of each of these colors is the color shifting ability. In 1996 Ford built about 2,000 Mystic Cobras. It was the first production car to feature color shifting paint. In 2004 Ford did it again with the Mystichrome Cobra that used more advanced technology. Only about 1,000 of these were built. These cars remain sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
