A German Perspective on the EcoBoost Mustang
How well does the EcoBoost hold up on German roads?
If you haven’t come across Everyday Driver before, they’re based in America and have been making videos for YouTube for quite some time. Their success has recently seen them picked up by the TV channel Velocity. But thankfully, that hasn’t stopped them from producing quality internet content. This particular video features Tom Hellmanzik, a German YouTuber that works closely with Everyday Driver. Tom already has experience reviewing a Mustang GT, so he’s in a perfect position to weigh it against an EcoBoost model.

Traditionally, Europeans are used to driving quick four-cylinder cars. Tooling around with a V8 in Europe is for people with money to burn. However, tooling around with a V8 in America, well, that’s just being American.
Like it or not, the four-cylinder turbo is here to stay, especially as we face ever-tightening emissions legislation and higher gas prices. As a result, the EcoBoost Mustang is also here to stay.
Tom’s observations on how the two engines compare are interesting. But what’s particularly interesting is how the Mustang stacks up on German roads against German cars. After all, the Mustang isn’t simply a pony car anymore. Off the shelf, it’s a true sports car that can hang with the best the world has to offer.

Tom even points out how much of a performance value the Mustang is overseas. Bang for the buck has always been a Mustang feature, and it appears that Ford is taking that to Europe as well. We believe the Mustang will always be an American icon, but that doesn’t stop us from cheering it on abroad. Especially if it can make Europeans who still look down on American cars shut up once and for all.
