Here’s Why You Don’t Let Your Mustang Be a Garage Queen

Drivers, don’t let your Mustangs become garage queens. Or should I say “barn queens” for the sake of this story?

That’s what a man in rural Minnesota did with his 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, and we’re sad to report his investment strategy did not yield the dividends he was likely hoping for. According to Barn Finds, the original owner of this blue beauty bought the GT500 brand-new from his local Ford dealership, and then had it delivered to his barn, where the car spent the rest of its days. That is until recently, when it was bought by someone through an eBay auction.

The Shelby GT500 was a very popular car back in its day, and was even sold with a premium over MSRP, which means the original owner (who is now deceased) probably paid in excess of $50,000 for this pony car. The kicker? This Shelby GT500 only saw 21 miles of roads in its life with the previous owner.

The original owner bought it as an investment, and it’s safe to say it lived in the barnĀ all of its days. Once the owner passed away, the car was auctioned to benefit his estate, and sold on eBay at no reserve for $40,200, which is less than it originally cost.

It’s sad to see this strategy didn’t pay off, butĀ this shows us yet another reason to drive and enjoy our earthly motorized possessions while we can.
