Mustang GT500 Pushes for 8s
This Mustang GT500 certainly has our attention, with the visual presence of a car we can assume will put down some impressive numbers. From the outside though, it’s a bit more subtle than some of those crazy tube-frame drag racers — like this fast Mustang. But still, this baby has one clear mission: to blaze into the 8-second range.
The staging lanes for this race include a DSM along side the Mustang. That little 4-banger shouldn’t be judged too quickly, because they can very easily put down big numbers and their AWD makes for consistent and fast launches. Once the lights go green though, it’s over as soon as it started. The DSM looks like it fell asleep at the light, and pretty much gave up his run after being unable to recover from the launch. That said, the GT500 still lands a time in the 8s, but only just, with an 8.99 at 159.70. Pretty good for a car that hasn’t been gutted down to bare metal. And as they say, a win is a win.
