Mustang Mach 1 Is A Perfect Neck-Snapping Daily Driver

This Mustang deserves a loving home where it will be cared for and driven. Is that home with you?

Every one of has “that car” that made us become enthusiasts. For me it was a pair of machines. The first was a Corvette C3. It was Elkhart Green with saddle tan leather inside, and the dentist down the street drove it like it was stolen every day he had it. The second was a 1971 Mustang Mach 1. It was yellow, and it was the car that my Grandmother owned when my mother was in high school. Everyone in the family knows the story behind Grandma’s Mustang, and everyone wants one. It may not be the right color, but it seems that a dream Mach 1 is for sale right now in Tennessee.

The car is currently listed up on Classic Cars and the sale ad reads like an enthusiast’s wet dream. Just the first line includes the words “Original,” “Factory Drag Pack,” and “Survivor.” It’s certainly not a perfect car, but that makes it better for daily usage. This Mach 1 was repainted once back in 80s, but otherwise the exterior is original. The current owner did everything to maintain all stock parts, but they did upgrade the ignition to a Flame Thrower 3. The original is included with the car if you prefer that. Its listed as having nearly zero rust, just 38k miles, and it’s numbers matching through and through.

In fact, that might be the thing we like the least about this car. A lightly used 429 Cobra Jet, tucked into a sold body, complete with the factory Drag Pack option means that this car is the perfect candidate for a full restoration and sale. In the right hands, this car could turn a serious profit.

And that breaks my heart.

Cars like this ignite the fire inside of people’s hearts. They make new car enthusiasts. I hate to think someone will pay $130,000 for it at auction and then hide it away in some garage. So please, buy your dream 1971 Mach 1 Mustang. For $60,000 this one can be yours. But instead of trying to flip it to make a few dollars, drive it every day of the week. Tear off from every red light like your chasing a record ¼ mile time. And any person who stops to ask about your “cool car” will be even more impressed to hear about how rare and original it is. And it will make them smile.
