Romain Dumas will attempt to once again secure an overall win at Pikes Peak, but this time, it’ll be in the new Super Ford Mustang Mach-E.

As many Blue Oval fans are already well aware, racer Romain Dumas has enjoyed quite a bit of success behind the wheel of more than one Ford EV demonstrator at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in recent years. In 2023, that began with the SuperVan, in which Dumas set a new class record, a win in the Open division, and a second place overall finish. Last year, Dumas secured an overall win and a new Open qualifying record in the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. Now, he’s getting a chance to repeat, this time, in the brand new Super Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The Super Ford Mustang Mach-E was just revealed by Ford Performance ahead of its trek up Pikes Peak later this month, and it looks, well, pretty insane. At the moment, details remain a bit scant, but it seems as if the new “Super” Mach-E follows the same type of formula as the SuperVan and SuperTruck – it’s equipped with massive aero bits designed to keep it glued to the ground as it makes its way up the mountain.

Those body parts look very similar to last year’s winning Lightning pickup, consisting of a gigantic front splitter, side skirts, rear wing, and diffuser, which make it look a lot different than any road-going Mach-E you’ll ever see. All of that extra bodywork helps generate a whopping 6,125 pounds of max downforce, according to the automaker, which is pretty much on par with its two predecessors. On top of that, the bodywork looks to be a bit massaged compared to the production Mach-E, as it’s a little lower, wider, and slicker.

In terms of powertrains, we don’t yet know what motivates the Super Ford Mustang Mach-E, but it very likely employs the same sort of setup as the SuperVan and SuperTruck, too. Those models utilized three STARD electric motors generating a total of 1,400 and 1,600 horsepower, respectively, with the former number also pertaining to the output of the older paved track-focused Mach-E 1400.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to the Super Ford Mustang Mach-E, but if we’ve learned anything from the past couple of years – which have brought forth two record-setting performances – we won’t likely be disappointed.
