Super-rare 1971 Mach 1 Drag Pack Is a Real Survivor

One of less than 800 built, this special Mach 1 easily meets our strict definition of an overused term!
The term “survivor” gets thrown around a lot in the world of collector cars. And yet, the actual definition remains pretty loose. Technically, anything escaping total destruction could be labeled a survivor. In our book, a survivor isn’t just a car that’s made it this far without escaping the crusher, however. It’s a car like this pristine 1971 Mustang Mach 1. A ride that sports a mere 38k original miles and remains nearly 100% intact and unmodified from its original guise.
We spotted the super-clean muscle car over at The Collector Car Network, where it’s currently seeking a new owner. It stood out for a number of reasons, but mostly for it’s inherent rarity. You see, this Mach 1 is a factory-optioned Drag Pack car with the 429 Super Cobra Jet. Obviously, Ford didn’t make many of these things, with total production just shy of 800 units.
The seller claims that all the original goodies remain as well. That includes a 780 cfm Holley carb, 4-speed transmission with factory-installed Hurst shift kit, and 4.11-geared Detroit Locker rear end. The only non-original addition is an electronic ignition, which isn’t difficult to return to original if the new owner so desires.
