Ignore the parrot; this “How it’s Made” Video will definitely make your day.

Watching assembly-line footage is fascinating. Seeing raw materials for a product take shape and become sub-assemblies before joining into a completed product is a captivating sight to behold. It’s even more captivating when that product is a Ford Mustang!

Apparently, the producers of this video on the SN-95 Mustang didn’t think it was captivating enough, so they added a talking claymation parrot (wearing a backwards ballcap, because it’s the mid ’90s) to the mix. Its name is I.Q. Parrot — “the beak that speaks,” and over the course of about a half hour, he narrates the process of turning raw steel, plastic, glass, and rubber into the best Mustangs 1994 to 1998 had to offer.

While I.Q. Parrot does a fine job breaking things down and making it easier for us to understand, his “little kid” voice gets grating after a while. If you have to babysit some very young children, you can probably throw this video into the mix so you don’t have to sit through Moana and Frozen again. You’re welcome.

While the mental ages of most of us at the MustangForums office range from single digits to about sixteen, we almost universally agree that we’re a little too old to get the maximum level of enjoyment out of this video.

Thankfully, there’s a version with a normal adult voiceover, and no I.Q. Parrot. Sorry, buddy – nothing personal. We’ve included it below.

If you own or have owned an SN-95, or just like Mustangs in general, this is definitely worth watching – parrot or no parrot, pick your poison. You might even spot your car in the video. How cool would that be?
