If you’re Mustang fan, you were probably bummed that you didn’t have a million dollars lying around when an original 1967 Ford Mustang “Eleanor” from “Gone in 60 Seconds” was sold for that amount at a Mecum Auction earlier this year. No worries, if you can manage to get to the Chicago area this Saturday and now have a little more money to play with you might get a second shot at picking one up.

One of the three Eleanor “hero” cars from Gone in 60 Seconds will roll across the auction block next month. Eleven 1967 Mustang fastbacks were converted to Shelby GT500 “Eleanor” lookalikes for the movie, but only three were used as hero cars. One of them, used for many of the driving scenes and promotional materials, sold for $1,000,000 at Mecum’s 26th Original Spring Classic 2013 auction in May. This example will be at Mecum’s Chicago auction set to take place October 10-12, 2013.

A true movie star will make its way down Mecum’s signature red carpet this May in Indianapolis. Known by most simply as “Eleanor,” the modified 1967 Ford Mustang from Touchstone Pictures’ “Gone in 60 Seconds” will cross the block as Lot S135 at Dana Mecum’s 26th Original Spring Classic auction this May 14-19. This collector car icon piloted in the movie by retired master car thief Memphis Raines, played by Nicholas Cage, is the real McCoy. Several cars were built to handle various duties in the filming of “Gone,” but this is serial number 7R02C179710, the “Hero” car driven by Cage during filming and the model used in movie close-ups, posters and promotional materials.
