Whipple Supercharged Mustang from American Muscle

If you’re looking to make big power with your S550 Mustang, America Muscle plotted an awesome course with this Whipple Stage 2 supercharger!

For years, our friends at American Muscle have been an awesome source for go-fast Mustang bits. And even if you haven’t shopped on the site, there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of the available hardware in action. Because while American Muscle is a retail shop, it’s also run by enthusiasts, who are constantly building up their personal rides. Which brings us to Justin’s 2019 Mustang… which just added a Whipple Stage 2 supercharger to the mix.

Before Justin gets to the install, he brings viewers up to speed on some of the modifications he’s already done to his S550. These include some beefy rear suspension bits from BMR, a set of long tube headers from Stainless Works, and a tune which bumped power to a respectable 467 horses at the rear wheels.

Since Justin wants more poke, he’s going forced induction — and chose the might Whipple W185RF 3.0L Supercharger for the task. Obviously, since this blower has more displacement than many motors on the market right now, it’s going to make a night and day difference. But before it gets installed, there are a couple of things that need to be done to fortify the Coyote mill to handle the boost.

Those mods include replacing the oil pump gears and the crank sprocket with forged units from Ford Performance. And while those aren’t the sexiest jobs? It’s crucial to ensure they get done, because if either gives up the ghost, all the expensive greasy bits will go boom. That said, once the Whipple is installed and the correct tune is installed, Justin’s Mustang produces a whopping 724 horsepower and 572 lb-ft on the dynno. Check out the video to see what that does to his time at the track!
