Sorry for the dumb question. When you say use a clay bar to remove contaminants...prior to waxing. Do you mean "clay bar the whole car?" OR clay bar just the areas where visible 'contaminants' are seen.........thx

I pride myself on waxing my car and taking care of it -- I have not used a clay bar thus far (just bug/tar remover and elbow grease) for tough spots prior to waxing........looks like I've been "sealing in" contaminants.....darnit......

please help me out here with your wisdom/feedback. Sounds like clay bar the entire car first.........

Clay the entire car first at least once a year. Twice if it is a DD. You can apply polish and wax after. The idea is to get the paint smooth as glass and than protect it.

Yes! Once you clay it, you'll never not want to clay it, it becomes a normal process to keeping your car looking like a million bucks. The smoother and contaminant-free you keep your finish, the easier it is to wash, remove hard water stains(should you accidentally park near some sprinklers) and, of course, being the envy of all on lookers.
