Quote: great modification dood...looks really nice, and keeps you from accidentally locking the keys in the trunk. I may have to think about this!

For all the Negative Nancys; If you dont have something nice to say...**** off.
thanks.. hadn't even thought about the trunk.. which i've actually done, back when i put my taillight sequencers in.. i was lucky i had 2 keys/fobs within reach..

and not to mention, i go outside all the time, and don't carry my keys, and i remember i want to get something out or put something in the car quickly, and boom, now i don't have to go run inside to get my keys..

again.. alot of this is avoidable, and small stuff.. but hey.. some people are okay with justifying it, some aren't..

Quote: Another scenario is you go to the beach or anywhere for that matter and you don't want to take the risk of loosing your keys. Lock em in the car along with your wallet and you don't have to worry about getting back in.

I still think you're missing the point about the keys being left in the car. There is a microchip in your key. If it's in the car, the car can be started or even hotwired. If the key is not in the car, the engine will not start no matter what a thief tries to do. It's a safety feature that I wouldn't want to eliminate.

Now being able to open the trunk with the keypad, that's worth it.

lol..

no, i completely understand the thieveing of the car, i guess i just live out in BFE and i guess i just don't care.. i've never heard of anyone stealing a car anywhere around here in the 36 years i've lived here. besides thats what insurance is for.. i mean, if they're gonna steal it, show up with a roll-back bust a window undo the e-brake, pop it outa gear and steal it.. course, i'd pop the hood, and undo the battery cable to disable that alarm. lol

i guess my whole point is.. why worry about something that COULD happen.. i don't live my life that way.. call me stupid ?

i don't know if they can be hotwired or not, but i do know that the keys have transponders in them (micro chip)

http://www.autotransponder.com/produ...hp?item_id=159

and they have to be coded to your vehicle.. and aren't very cheap if you have to replace them.. last time i tried to get one for my 99 F150 the Ford dealer wanted 85$ for one key.. so i just had them make a door-only key for $5

Quote: valid point.. heck, i wouldn't have even considered it if i hadn't found that spot to put it in. i'd rather have to go to the dealer a 100 times and have a door key made for $5 off the VIN number than to have that pad on my door.
What Stealership do you shop at cause $5 is kinda low for a new key to be cut around these parts....

I've seen this under the mirror, under the hood near the windshield, and inside the gas cover.
The gas cover is the cleanest, but I've always seen them horizontal instead of vertical.

If you're happy, that's all that matters.
Pay no mind to 157.
He woke up this morning to find the box was all out of Crunchberries.
