THAT looks SWEEEET! Still working with the paint guys. They seem to NOT want to paint it since there is warranty work involved. So if they won't then after they paint it i'll take is somewhere else to have them do the black.

The bad part of the hot rod black is that since they don't clear it, if it isn't sprayed right the first time, they have to sand it down and start again. Warranty work might be hard to press them for a different type of paint, like a flat, but a same type of paint in a different color would be okay.

I agree, go with hot rod flat black. I had the cowl portion of my hood painted hot rod flat black. It does'nt stand out on my car as much as some of the others in this thread, its more sutle, but thats the way I like it.

The pros use PPG for cars that will go in front of a judge.
It's called low gloss black. DBU System # 2436 I believe. I'm not at home right now but if you ask PPG, they'll tell you the part # for shure (green label on the can).
It's lacquer based and that's what I used on this 69 Mach (see pic).
