Default Overspray

Does anyone know the best way to get overspray off of a hood? It is very "gritty".

I need to get it off before I put vinyl stripe on so I don't think I want to polish it off. And I especially will not be putting wax on it.

I have used some of these clay bars before and they seemed to do pretty good. Just used plenty of soapy water or whatever solution comes with the kit.

If it's just the hood, claybar it.
Buffin' makes a mess and you have to be **** about cleaning residue.
It's a real pain to clean dry compound off in nooks and crannies.
You could always tape the car to prevent that...

As stated above, use a clay bar.

Thats what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it needed something more powerful like a chemical.

Thanks folks. That helps alot.

Claybar works great at getting overspray off and it leaves a nice smooth surface.

Its worth it to at least try the clay bar and see if it removes the overspray...

Oh, and don't forget to try a clay bar on it too!

Clay bar is an option...

From our experience the best way to remove overspray, expecially heavier overspray that claybar will not remove is to buff the car.

Buff the car using a foam cutting pad with rubbing compound. Then hit it with swirl remover on a black waffle pad.

In past we've also just used a black waffle pad with 3m Ultrafine SE. Takes overspray right off and leaves surface like glass.
