A 255 will fit up front just fine and wont raise the height. You just get a shorter sidewall perhaps. Do a search for a tire calculator to make sure no matter what size you go with you keep the overall diamater the same as stock. 27" I think. Stuff the widest tire out back you can afford in my opinion. I really love my Kumho Ecsta SPT's. I dont think they make anything wider than a 285 though. At least they didnt when I bought them last spring. Look around on tirerack.com

the tire calculater says with 255's for the front wheels the sidewall would be 4.0in and the diameter 27.0in

thats good right

and why would you prefer 285's over 275's just curious wouldnt it make the tires look to big? just curious

If by too big you mean sidewall height just go down one size. I am going to go with 285/35's on the rear next time as opposed to the 275/40's I have now. I just prefer the slightly shorter sidewall plus another 10mm on the rear will fit better on my 10" rims IMO. The 275's fit my previous 9.5's perfectly but on the 10's are just slightly "rounded-off". Some people like that look, I prefer a more squared-off look. Wheels/tires are incredibly subjective!

Oh, and so far I am loving my Hankook Ventus Evo's. I've also used General Exclaim's in the past on other cars and liked them too. I prefer summer rubber as it is the stickiest and I have a "beater" for winter weather.
